The Ballad of the Civil Air Patrol

A ringing awakens me out of my sleep,
the aircraft is waiting our appointment to keep,
That old rescue call can come any hour.
Pilot and observer are cleared by the tower.

C.A.P., Civil Air Patrol
Your wings are out saving both young and old
The deeds of bravery, the courage untold,
Is whispered by the meek and sung by the bold.

The search was planned at breifing this morn,
A clue was given to try lookout mountain.
It better be soon, for hurt they may be,
The lives of these men might be up to me.

C.A.P, etc.

A flicker, a wing, the brightest of green,
the wreck has been spotted, now it's up to the team.
Locations been given to mission control,
The Ranger Cadets, their task has been told.

C.A.P., etc.

Young men and young women have been trained for this day.
They've been drilled and prepared every possible way.
The men will survive, because of these ten,
Ascended as boys, and came down as men.

C.A.P., etc.

Our reward is a look at the faces so sad,
Survivors arrive, and everyone's glad.
Mission accomplished, debrief and thank all,
Get home to the loved ones and await the next call.

C.A.P., etc.

Your wings are out saving both young and old,
The deeds of bravery, the courage I'm told,
Is whispered by the meek and sung by the bold.
