BIOGRAPHY SYNOPSIS
Chaplain Cooter joined CAP as a cadet in Tennessee and served from 1980 to 1986.  He held all squadron cadet leadership positions to include Cadet Commander. He also served at wing level as Cadet Advisory Council Chair, Encampment Cadet Commander and later, as a Wing Cadet Program Officer.  After a regretful break in service, Chaplain Cooter re-joined CAP as a senior member in 1999.  Chaplain Cooter continues to serve as a Mission Pilot, actively flying Charlotte County Composite Squadron’s weekly Harbor Patrol missions, and he actively supports the squadron’s cadet program as ADY Chaplain, Orientation Pilot, and occasional Aerospace instructor.

In his ministry role, Chaplain Cooter is a priest in the Episcopal Church and currently serves on the Bishop’s staff for the Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida, as "Canon for Ministry Development/Transition Officer”.  Chaplain Cooter assists congregations who are in the process of selecting and calling new clergy leadership. Chaplain Cooter also supports congregations in the diocese, who wish to revitalize their ministry and re-engage in local mission work.  Chaplain Cooter coordinates the redevelopment of campus ministry throughout the diocese. He also facilitates the clergy Fresh Start Program in the diocese, a clergy continuing education and leadership development program.

Prior to ordained ministry, Chaplain Cooter worked as a retail executive for two national retail chains, working in the corporate offices as a Retail Buyer, and earlier in his career as a field manager.

Chaplain Cooter’s hobbies include playing guitar, cooking, fishing, and of course, flying.  You can follow Chaplain Cooter’s blog: http://ericcooter.com
